Production work - Article in WORD

If you were able to attend two of the most sensational pop tours of 2011, I’d bet you would love to have been at Katy Perry’s and Rihanna’s smashing sell out arena tours ‘California Dreams’ and ‘LOUD’! When two best friends go head to head for the overall experience of whose concert was better, what will the fans of both Katy and Rihanna say about their performances and most importantly WHO WAS BETTER? Can the stars put their personal life and friendship aside and battle out for who had the best tour or will it ruin everything they’ve got between each other? Here, FRESH interviews 2 fans of both Katy and Rihanna who were lucky enough to attend both the tours this year! Kayleigh and Molly tell us their experience of the sensational tours...
First of all, it must be so exciting to have said you attended both tours presented by two stunning artists Katy Perry and Rihanna!  Which event would you say stood out the most in terms of a memorable event and why?
M: Katy Perry’s because there was more visual things to look at and it was made out like a story.
K: Rihanna’s because it was the closest one I’ve been to, plus the fact I went with most of my friends so it was something to look back on and was good memories.
So do you think Katy Perry’s ‘California Dreams’ tour actually fulfilled your imagination of what you see as a California Dream?
M: No because it reminded me a bit of the wizard of oz
K: Not too sure to be honest because it was dead good the way she had everything but I don’t really know what I think of a California Dream, I’m not too sure what one is.
What about the word ‘LOUD’? Do you think loud represents the feeling of Rihanna’s concert?
M: Yes it was very loud and energetic, exactly the vibe that I hoped it would be.
K:  Yes because there was a good atmosphere going on and it was very energetic compared to Katy Perry’s concert.
In comparison of the two concerts, which do you think was more special with better props and setting?
M: Katy Perry’s was more thoughtful the way it took you through a story and had a person dressed up as a purple cat character on stage.
K: Definitely Katy Perry because she had like a different costume for every song and she had like a video playing in the background which told us like a story through the concert, she had like really good props so yes definitely Katy Perry.
Who would you personally say put on a better performance and why?
M: Katy Perry because she got more of the audience involved, used more colours and more visuals to see.
K: Erm, they were both a bit the same. Katy Perry did put on a good performance they way she had the video playing in the background and her costumes but then Rihanna put on a good performance like she always does so yeah it was a bit of both.
Out of the two, which tour would you say was more creative than the other?
M: Katy Perry because she pre-filmed the storyline and put so much effort in.
K: Probably Katy Perry, just because of her ideas and everything she used.
Which concert was it that became more alive with a better atmosphere than the other and why?
M: Rihanna’s because the audience and fans had such a good vibe and really enjoyed themselves.
K: Rihanna because her songs are more jumpy compared to Katy Perry’s.
What were the feelings like at each concert?
M: I felt like Katy Perry was very intriguing with the storyline and Rihanna’s concert got me into a good party mood.
K: Rihanna’s was really wilder and felt like I was at a huge party.
Out of the two, based on their latest tour, who would you go and see again and why?
M: Katy Perry because it was more exciting, worth the money and worth the sore feet after standing for the whole concert
K: I would go and see Katy Perry because I have seen Rihanna twice already and she does the same songs from past albums so I’d go and see Katy Perry and hope she would do a new track list of songs.
Are you in general more of a Katy Perry fan or a Rihanna fan?
M: Definitely a Rihanna fan, I really enjoy all her songs she produces and look at her more than Katy Perry as a good role model.
K: Erm, I think I’m more of a Rihanna fan because I like her type of songs more. I do like Katy Perry but I’m more of a Rihanna fan and it’s good that I’ve seen them both.
Finally before we go, which concert has won you over?
M: I must say that although I’m a bigger fan of Rihanna, I do think Katy Perry has won me over!
K: Katy Perry definitely because like I’ve said I’ve seen Rihanna before and she was the same both times so I would say Katy Perry.

Questionnaire for target audience

This is a questionnaire I have produced to hand out to 20 different girls aged 11-16 who are my target audience. I have asked questions like what is your favourite colour? To get an idea for the colour scheme of the magazine and to really see what my target audience enjoy reading about in a pop magazine.

Introduction

I am a year 12 student who is studying Media Studies as one of my AS levels. My teacher has gave me a brief booklet which includes both the tasks of the preliminary exercise and the main task of producing a new media magazine. The preliminary exercise consists of creating a new school magazine. The front cover main image has to be a medium close up shot. The main task is to create a new music magazine including a front cover, contents and a double page spread article.
